The Institute for Law & AI is a non-partisan think tank that researches and advises on the legal and regulatory implications of frontier AI.

The Institute for Law & AI is a think tank composed of legal researchers who offer policy and legal analysis on matters concerning advanced AI systems. It aims to inform and advise policymakers at the intersection of AI and the law, with the ultimate goal of mitigating risks and promoting safety, accountability, and well-being.


The Brief

Our brief was to create a clear, credible brand identity and website that will position the Institute as the go-to authority for companies, policymakers and researchers who are navigating this fast-moving space.

The Solution

Our response to the brief is intertwined with the concept of binary, reflecting the foundational role of 0s and 1s in coding AI systems, where every decision and action can be broken down into basic computational elements.

Colour Palette & Visual Messaging

Typography

We chose a typeface combination of Altform and Financier. Altform’s modern, geometric style conveys innovation and clarity, while Financier Text’s elegant serif structure adds a sense of prestige and professionalism, perfectly balancing the Institute’s forward-thinking and authoritative identity.

Pattern Making

The watermark pattern features a subtle, repetitive design ensuring a cohesive and professional presence across all assets without overpowering the content.

Imagery

The AI-generated illustrations are thoughtfully crafted to intentionally include areas of flat colour and space, ensuring that they mesh successfully with both the wider identity and the Institute's work.

Brand Guidelines

The brand guidelines ensure a cohesive visual identity by defining consistent use of typography, colour palette, logo application, and design elements—reinforcing the Institute's credibility and professionalism.

The LawAI Website

The website is designed to provide a seamless, engaging experience, showcasing the Institute's research and policy expertise whilst ensuring easy navigation and access to in-depth resources for a diverse range of stakeholders.

Beyond the website

Other brand assets, from share cards to stationery and reports, maintain a consistent, professional design language that reflects the Institute’s authority and modernity, ensuring all materials are visually aligned.
